About Us

Who We Are

We are a friendly team of fitness professionals with a special interest in working with older adults. Our mission is to help our clients maintain and improve their physical fitness through exercise and education so that they can enjoy the quality of life in retirement that they deserve.

Kelsey Peters, Co-Founder

Kelsey is a local. Born and raised largely in Niagara, she attended local schools and played lots of soccer and ice hockey (of which she was only actually decent at soccer) and ran cross-country.

Kelsey completed her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences at University of Ottawa in 2017. Later that year, she moved to England to begin her Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at University of Birmingham. While there, she met her physipod co-founder, Mollie, and the two rapidly became best pals.

Kelsey has always had a passion for working with an older population and shortly after graduating in 2019, she took a job at an elective orthopedic hospital as a physiotherapist. In that role, she worked mostly with older patients of variable fitness levels that required conservative management of joint pain or rehabilitation following joint replacement surgeries. Kelsey has a specific interest in empowering patients to feel competent in self-management of complex or chronic pain. To that end, she completed additional training regarding chronic back pain in 2022.

After five years studying and working in the UK, Kelsey found herself missing her family and her hometown, St. Catharines. In May 2022, she made the move home and immediately bought a beautiful puppy who she named George. In November 2022, she completed her certification in Senior Fitness Instruction through the American Sports and Fitness Association.

When Kelsey isn’t bopping along through a group class, she’s spoiling George rotten or getting whipped into shape in the physipod gym by Mollie.

Mollie O’Donnell, Co-Founder

Mollie grew up in County Tipperary in Ireland. She has had a love of sport and exercise from a young age and played basketball, hockey and rugby throughout high school. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at the University of Limerick where she graduated with first class honours.

In 2017, she moved to the UK to complete her Master's degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham. Following graduation, she chose to specialize in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and worked at a number of orthopedic hospitals in the UK. It was during this time that Mollie found her passion for working with older adults, inspired by the power of rehabilitation to preserve independence and ensure quality of life in the aging adult.

Mollie has a special interest in strength training and is a qualified Personal Trainer (NSCACPT). She has also completed additional training and research into vestibular and balance rehabilitation.

When Kelsey suggested moving to Niagara with the prospect of working together she jumped at the opportunity.

When not in the gym herself, Mollie can be found exploring the great outdoors, hiking, biking- you name it!

What We Do

There is an overwhelming body of scientific evidence to support the importance of exercising as we age, but that does not mean it is easy! At physipod, we believe in empowering you to understand the advice you’re being given so that you can make informed decisions about your fitness. We will work with you to design an exercise program that is tailored just for you and your goals, no matter what your time constraints or ability. We also offer group sessions to those that would prefer to get fit amongst friends!

How We Do It

We are passionate about building a strong rapport with our clients so that they feel confident and supported in their journey. During your initial consultation we will discuss your goals and then work with you to create a plan through which you can achieve them. Following the initial appointment, we offer a variety of options depending on what level of support you require. For example, we can schedule weekly 1:1 sessions at our private gym or in your home. Alternatively, if you feel confident to complete your program independently, you can check in with us monthly to review your progress. Our clients choose what works for them.
